"Interoperability" has become something of a buzzword in healthcare communication software—it comes up often in discussions because it sounds good, but what's actually being done on the ground is pretty difficult to assess. Is it still an industry (and vendor) priority? Or was it a fad that came and went as other needs and trends bubbled up to the surface?

In a piece published by MedCity News, PerfectServe CEO Guillaume Castel makes a renewed case for the importance of interoperability: "When systems integrate better, every minute saved by removing roadblocks is a minute given back to clinicians and patient care. It’s time for vendors in this space to treat interoperability as a core business strategy rather than a buzzword or another box to check as they’re going through the motions."
