Syncing your PerfectServe account with Apple’s iPhone 3G™
Like all cell phones, the iPhone 3G™ can receive calls and text messages from PerfectServe and you can dial in to access messages and contact colleagues. In addition, the iPhone 3G™ uses “push” technology to deliver PerfectServe voice and email messages to you as soon as they arrive without the need for manual syncing. This article explains how to quickly create a PerfectServe Exchange ActiveSync account on your iPhone 3G.
NOTE: 1st generation iPhones have limited email access capability and require manual syncing to retrieve PerfectServe voice and email messages.
| 1. | To add a PerfectServe Exchange account to your iPhone, tap “Settings”, then “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”, then “Add Account”, then “Microsoft Exchange”. (Note: you can configure only one Exchange account per iPhone.) |
| 2. | On the next screen, enter the following: • Email: Your PerfectServe email address (ex:firstname.lastname@perfectserve.net)
|
| 3. | Your iPhone will now try to locate the PerfectServe Exchange server using Microsoft's Autodiscovery service. After that step, the screen below is shown. Enter the PerfectServe Exchange server's complete address (outlook.perfectserve.net) in the Server field, exactly as shown below.
|
| 4. | Next select the synchronize Mail setting to “ON” and Contacts and Calendars to “off” unless you are using the PerfectServe website to manage those features. Note that by default, only 3 days' worth of email is synchronized. To synchronize more, go into Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select your Exchange account, and tap on Mail days to sync. Note that after configuring an Exchange ActiveSync account, all existing contact and calendar information on the iPhone is overwritten. Additionally, iTunes no longer syncs contacts and calendars with your desktop computer.
Set Contacts and Calendar syncing to “off” unless you are using these features in the PerfectServe website. |
