PerfectServe’s First Speech-Enabled Service
Quickly Connects Physicians
With Colleagues and Patients
July 7, 2010
Knoxville, Tenn. — PerfectServe, a clinical communications system for hospitals and physician practices, now offers speech-enabled services that allow physicians to quickly connect with colleagues and patients through voice commands.
With PerfectServe’s new speech-enabled service, doctors can dial a single number and say what they’d like to do, such as “contact a colleague” or “call a patient.” They can also instantly change their call routing preferences, including on-call schedules, status, and the way they are reached (i.e., cell, text message or pager).
“I’ve been truly amazed at how well it picks up the voice clarity and it goes right to that physician or whoever else we’re trying to contact,” said Laila Shehadeh, MD. “The ease of using the system saves time. And it’s a realistic goal to have better communication for the ultimate quality of care to serve our patients.”
PerfectServe’s voice search capabilities have an 82% accuracy rate the first time a caller speaks a name and a 90% accuracy rate overall – performance figures that far exceed industry standards. In addition, PerfectServe continually fine-tunes the system’s ability to recognize names on the first call by analyzing caller behavior and call data, then expanding name phonetics to accommodate different accents, dialects, and even personal nicknames.
“I have an accent and I find that even with my accent I’m able to work through the system,” said Nasir Husain, MD. “I’m not looking at my phone when I’m trying to locate a physician. I can just speak through. And things go through and I found it very, very satisfying.”
The PerfectServe system links hospitals and practices in 138 markets across the U.S. and is used by nearly 14,000 physicians. It features intelligent voice, online and mobile solutions that give physicians control over their communications while enabling hospital clinicians and nurses to expedite and improve the coordination of care.
